Tagra raho to all. I’m putting up a brief of my dad col ashok lawate as requested. Commissioned into 6 Assam in 1966, he served in the bn for the major portion before Commanding 9 assam in dehradun and arunachal pradesh as a lt col. He took over the reins from the distinguished general johnny mukherjee. After commanding 9 assam he went on to command 3 Assam in amritsar and siachen. He was then posted as col gs army War college(then college of combat). From there he moved to SI dte in Delhi. After finishing 3 years in Delhi, he moved to bhopal as CO 21 corps pro unit. In this tenure i joined nda in 1995. After retiring in 1997, he took up re-employment and served in nda for a total of 4 years and finally retired in 2001. Mom and dad are now settled in pune. Dad is suffering from parkinsons so cannot use a mobile phone or walk around freely. However i will fwd mrs ranjana lawate’s ( my mom) number in case anyone would like to connect.. regards to all. tagra raho Me and ashok had two innings together. One at ASMT FAIZABAD for a long time and one at Arunachal for a short time in 4 ASSAM  when he came to 4 Assam to pick up his rank before going to DSSC  our life is full of happy moments and to quote the best .

We both were captains and instructors in Army School Of Mechanical Transport Faizabad. It was in May 71 and one day i was taking a model with the Commandant and Dy Commandant attending it . Midway i saw on the model room door lawate bubbling with joy and telling me to give a break. He had the rest of the gang of instructors with him captains sondhi kholi bawa and patige. I asked the commandant for permission to give a break and having got a okey i told the students 10 minutes break . as the commandant got up from the chair lawate rushed into the model room and gave mea bear hug and shouted THROUGH SIR TO STAFF COLLEGE. A very unforgettable moment of life
